Terrie & Robert’s Anticipation Session at Pensacola Seed and Garden


Terrie and Robert are getting married this September, and to celebrate their upcoming “I do,” we planned an anticipation session to soak in the excitement before the big day.


It was the perfect chance to slow down, be present with one another, and capture this sweet chapter of their love story before the whirlwind of wedding celebrations begins.

Our original vision for the shoot involved a beautiful water element — something dreamy and serene — but Florida’s unpredictable weather had other plans. With the radar looking less than promising, we made a last-minute location change, and that’s when we stumbled upon Pensacola Seed and Garden. It turned out to be the happiest accident.


From the moment we walked in, we were surrounded by lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and rows of potted plants that seemed to stretch endlessly. The nursery had such a calming, romantic feel that it instantly felt like the perfect place for their session. The light poured in softly through the greenhouse panels, wrapping Terrie and Robert in a natural glow that made every frame feel warm and intimate.


And then came one of my favorite moments — completely unplanned. In the middle of shooting, one of the workers turned on the sprinklers without realizing we were there. He quickly apologized, but we practically jumped at the chance to say, “No, wait… please turn them back on!” The water droplets caught the sunlight just right, creating this whimsical, movie-scene effect while Robert carried Terrie through the rows of plants. It was playful, romantic, and so perfectly them.


After I delivered their gallery last night, Terrie messaged me saying, “Lydia…those are amazing!!!! I had such a blast and surprisingly you got Robert out of his shell!!!” Hearing that after the session was complete made my heart so full — because at the end of the day, it’s not just about creating beautiful photos, it’s about crafting an experience that feels joyful, comfortable, and true to who my couples are.


By the end of the session, we had not only captured genuine joy and love but also found a new hidden gem in the heart of Pensacola. I was so smitten with the space (and its plants!) that I couldn’t resist taking a couple home with me. 🌱
